Family and children law

The breakdown of a relationship will always be an emotional and distressing time, especially when there are factors such as children, complex financial matters or domestic violence also in the equation.

Our Family team help individuals, like you, every day. We have a wealth of experience in matters like the ones you are experiencing and understand that it can be a particularly stressful time.

With offices in Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Chandler's Ford and Waterlooville we will offer expert help and advice to you, with an aim to make things as painless as possible for you and your loved ones.  To ease the worry, we strive to offer you a high quality service; there to support you, provide advice and explain things every step of the way.

How we can help you

If you have made the difficult decision to divorce or separate, we can advise you through this legal journey with a variety of packages available to suit your situation and budget.  When going through a divorce or separation agreeing your financial arrangements for your property, business or other assets can cause further complications.  We have the experience to help you understand your options in relation to your financial matters and work with you to find a solution.  If you are serving in the military we are also able to advise you in relation to your divorce and pensions arrangements.

You may find you and your former spouse or partner are struggling to make decisions about your children or financial arrangements; if this is the case family mediation may be an appropriate course for you to come to these agreements through independent mediator.

We can support you in arrangements for your children not only if you are divorcing your spouse, but also if you are concerned that the other parent may not comply with agreements already made in a Child Arrangements Order.  We are also able to support grandparents during this time if they are being denied contact with their grandchildren.

No-one likes to think that their relationship will end, but being prepared for this scenario will help protect you and your assets in the future.  We can advise you as to whether agreements such as a pre-nuptial agreement or cohabitation agreement would be suitable for you.

It is not only divorce or separation that can impact a relationship, but if you are living with domestic abuse in your relationship we are here to help.  We can help you understand your options as to legal proceedings, which we will not start until you are happy to.  If legal action is not the path you wish to take, we can be here for you to discuss your other options.
