I'm truly grateful and glad I had you in my corner fighting for me.
Our family mediators
Sam Miles and Claire Knight are both Resolution trained family mediators. Sam Miles has been a practicing family solicitor since 1999, is a Partner and is Head of the Family department. Claire Knight qualified in 2000 and has been with the firm since 2002. Over the years she has built an enviable reputation for her dedication and success in achieving the best results for her clients.
There are a variety of skills that a family mediator requires in order to be successful in helping couples reach those important decisions without causing more conflict. Firstly, when you come to a family mediator, you want to know that you will not only be listened to, but you will be heard and your wishes taken into consideration. Secondly, you want to know that your mediator is not interested in taking sides but has the practical skills to be able to offer you and your partner constructive ways to move towards a decision. And finally, you want to know that whatever outcome you reach will be capable of being converted into a legally binding format.
As lawyer-mediators, we have the experience to offer all of this. With over 25 years combined experience of helping couples through one of the most difficult times in their lives we are equipped with the compassion and understanding needed in this emotional time. Our legal knowledge also means that we are able to inform you as to whether the agreement you are proposing to make with each other could be made legally binding or whether it might fall foul and subsequently not be approved by a Court.
Divorce or separation will always be an emotionally draining time, and so it is likely that you will approach a family mediator with a prepared list of items you wish to discuss and resolve. It is only natural that some topics may not be considered or thought of, and we can highlight any other remaining concerns that may be relevant to you.
We are committed to family mediation and have seen first hand how quickly a dispute can be resolved in this manner as opposed to the traditional solicitor / client approach. We truly believe that wherever possible mediation is a route to be encouraged and actively pursued, and we are here to help at every step of the way.
