Here at Warner Goodman LLP, we realise that University isn’t suited to everyone and diving head first into the working world is some people's favoured approach. That’s why we offer Apprenticeships for people looking to learn on the job, while also earning a wage.
Why Warner Goodman LLP for an Apprenticeship?
We are an award-winning law firm that has been practising law for over 150 years with a wealth of knowledge that we’ll use to guide you towards completing qualifications that are industry recognised. An apprenticeship with us will provide you with skills and experiences that won’t just help you at work, but in life.
I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship with Warner Goodman as everyone within the business is encouraging, supportive and friendly. The apprenticeship has provided me with invaluable experience and opportunities to grow my professional skills but also to grow as an individual.
Grace Parker, Apprentice in our Employment team, studying for her CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice.
With a diverse team of 160 employees across branches in Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton, Chandler’s Ford and Waterlooville, you’ll learn from a broad range of people across an extensive variety of legal services which will help you to decide which part of law you would like to specialise in.
We are a firm that enjoys seeing people succeed and achieve. We currently have many members of staff that started their career with us as Apprentices who have now completed industry recognised courses, moved into different positions and play key roles in different departments. They are able to do this not purely because we offer them guidance and support, but also the flexibility to study so that they can manage their amount of work and strike a good work-life balance.
During this apprenticeship I have been able to learn whilst on the job and gain confidence in various areas, like working in an office environment and business administration which I didn't feel I would have been able to do if I was in full time education. I have also been able to go to college one day a week, which helped me to easily balance my workload.

What is it like to be an Apprentice at Warner Goodman LLP?
You can hear from some of our current and past Apprentices below:
Amelia Ford – Paralegal Apprentice in our Commercial team
Amelia joined the firm in September 2018 and gained experience working across multiple departments, including Company Commercial, Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution, and Commercial Property. She quickly enrolled on the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration, which she successfully passed in September 2019. Amelia then began studying for her CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeship which will see her become a fully qualified Paralegal by 2021.
Here, Amelia speaks on her experience as an Apprentice at the firm: “I chose Warner Goodman as it’s a well known firm and I have heard nothing but positive comments from both clients and employees. During this Apprenticeship I have been able to learn whilst on the job and gain confidence in various areas, like working in an office environment and business administration, which I didn't feel I would have been able to do if I was in full time education. I was also able to go to college one day a week, which helped me to easily balance my workload. The highlight of my Apprenticeship has been the opportunity to gain wider knowledge and understanding of the different aspects of Commercial Law, and watch them be put into practice by experienced and talented solicitors. I would highly recommend an apprenticeship with Warner Goodman to anyone. I was made to feel welcome and valued by not just the whole Commercial team, but also the firm in general and I have received constant support from them all every step of the way. I'm excited to further my career with my colleagues and Warner Goodman supporting me."
Grace Parker – Apprentice in our Employment team
Joining the firm in 2018, Grace spent a year in the Personal Injury department as a Business Administration Apprentice, before then moving to our Employment department in September of 2019. As part of the Document Audit team for the Peace of Mind service, Grace reviews staff handbooks and employment contracts for Peace of Mind members. At the same time as joining the Employment team, Grace began her CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice, and is on track to qualify as a Paralegal in September of 2021.
"Working in the legal industry has always been a goal of mine and I have always wanted to do it by learning on the job. When I saw an Apprenticeship being offered by Warner Goodman I was extremely interested, especially as I could see that they were a reputable firm and would be able to provide me with great experience. After researching into different law firms in the area, I decided to apply for the Apprenticeship with Warner Goodman as it seemed like not only a firm with a very good reputation, but also like a welcoming and friendly firm to work for. One of the best parts of working for Warner Goodman has been how much I have grown in confidence since joining. The responsibilities and tasks I have been trusted to do have really helped me develop some valuable professional skills, but also grow as an individual."
