Hampshire law firm, Warner Goodman, are delighted to announce that they are finalists for the Company of the Year category in the Venus Awards Hampshire 2017.

The category, sponsored by IT service provider Silver Lining, celebrates businesses with over 50 employees who encourage women in business, while also promoting gender equality across the organisation.   This year marks the first year that the Venus Awards has encompassed the whole of Hampshire, spanning Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, the Isle of Wight and Basingstoke.

“Nominations this year for the 15 categories reached over 1,100, and 400 applications were received, so we’re delighted to be one of the three finalists for this category,” explains Sarah Whitemore, Equity Partner at Warner Goodman.  “I have worked here since 1992, starting as a Trainee and now I am one of eight Equity Partners, alongside two other women.  Four out of six Business Heads within the firm are women, we have seven female Partners out of 17, 20 out of 24 Associates of the firm are women, and key roles such as Finance Partner, Marketing Manager and IT Manager are all filled by women.  As a firm we have invested greatly in technology to allow flexible working, which is particularly useful for parents who need the flexibility, and we have always strived to offer all employees the same opportunities when it comes to training and promotion.”

The Venus Awards, dubbed by Channel 4 as “The Working Women’s Oscars”, celebrate the contribution that women make to the local, regional, and national economy in business.  The Hampshire Venus Awards 2017, in association with Peter Cooper Motor Group, will culminate in a Ceremony and Gala Dinner to be held at The Spark, Southampton Solent University on Saturday, 11th November 2017.

“I’m extremely proud to be part of the driving force at Warner Goodman, and to be recognised for our female-friendly ethos is very gratifying,” concludes Sarah.  “We have been standing alongside other fantastic businesses in this category, and we’re looking forward to finding out the results on the night!”
