All businesses like to kickstart their New Year on a positive note, and that’s exactly what the Employment Team have seen with their Peace of Mind package, a package of support for local employers.  Record numbers of employers are either renewing their membership or signing up for new packages.  Sarah Whitemore, Employment Partner for the firm, reviews the reasons why it’s now that employers are turning to them for advice.

“January 2014 will be a record month for Peace of Mind, with renewals of existing members and new members also coming on board,” begins Sarah.  “With the economic difficulties we have experienced in recent years employers have tightened their belts resulting in low recruitment levels, as well as in-house HR resources and available money to spend on keeping policies up to date being cut.  Now as employers see the economy start to recover they are planning for growth, and are wary that their old policies may not be fit for purpose.  This is precisely what our Peace of Mind package can help with.”

The package not only includes an annual documentation audit, but also access to the Employment Teams’ seminars and masterclasses, with some bespoke training for the company in question, either on claims avoidance for managers, or on a topic of their choosing.  “The training is a key element of the package,” continues Sarah.  “While the documentation audit takes care of the paperwork such as contracts and an employers’ staff handbook, the training equips the managers with the skills to avoid potential claims against them, and so keeps the employer away from the Employment Tribunal.”

Sarah concludes, “As well as both these areas, members of Peace of Mind also have access to one of the Employment Team who they can call on when needed, with no limit to the amount of advice they receive.  2013 saw a vast amount of employment law changes, and 2014 will be no different, so it’s important for all businesses to be up-to-date and have access to cost effective professional advice and guidance, which is precisely what Peace of Mind offers.”
