2013 is looking to be another successful year for the Employment Team in terms of their Seminars and Masterclass diary.  Employment Partner, Sarah Whitemore, tells us what delegates can look forward to this year, and why attendee numbers grow year on year.

“Our 2013 Events Calendar is our busiest one to date, with August and December the only months we’re not holding an event,” begins Sarah.  “Our events vary from Tribunal Field Trips, masterclasses and free seminars, and through this variety we are able to cater for everyone’s needs, whether it’s a morning update session at the seminar, a morning looking in more depth at the legislation in the masterclasses, or spending a day in an actual Employment Tribunal hearing.”

There are four free seminars running throughout 2013, the first was in March focussing on Crisis Recovery.  Sarah continues, “This was the first time we looked at Crisis Recovery plans from an HR perspective, with 2 guest speakers involved also and it was a great success with approximately 80 delegates in attendance.  Our remaining seminars will look at Hiring and Firing Senior Executives on 3rd July, age discrimination in our Golden Oldies seminar on 18th September, and we’ll conclude the year with our Social Silliness seminar, looking at the impact and HR implications the growing use of Social Media has in the workplace.”

The seminars run for approximately 2 ½ hours during a morning, looking at current legislation and offering advice to the attendees.  The Masterclasses are also run over a morning session, however they are presented to a smaller group allowing the Employment Team to look in more depth at the particular area of legislation and offer more individual support.  They are priced at £120+VAT per place.  “Our masterclasses in 2013 will be looking at three key areas; Rules of Redundancy on 1st May, the recruitment process in Recruitment Roulette on 17th July, and how to manage workplace bullying in Beat the Bully on 9th October,” says Sarah.

“Another part of our masterclass schedule are our Tribunal Field Trips, which we used to run in a morning session but due to their popularity we have extended them to run over a full day,” continues Sarah.  “These events are charged at £190+VAT per place and are of great value to the guests as they show employment law in its real environment, and there’s no better way to learn than to see these things in action.  Our first Tribunal Fieldtrip was in February, with our next one on 11th June and the final one on 22nd October.

“We are very fortunate that our events have built a good reputation over the years for being informative and extremely valuable to HR Managers and business owners alike, but we also understand that we can’t simply feed the delegates the information, we have to do so in an engaging and interactive way; something that we fully embraced over the years,” concludes Sarah.
