Wonderful service from start to finish.
Celebrating a true Warner Goodman Legend
When discussing careers it’s rare these days to find a person who spends almost 60 years with the same firm, and even rarer for them to stay in contact once they retire! The team at Warner Goodman LLP are lucky enough to have such former colleagues, and recently showed their appreciation when they arranged a meal to celebrate the 80th birthday of John Locke, who spent 58 years with the firm and still visits the office regularly.
“John joined in 1950 when he was 15 years old with the firm known then as Warner & Son, and it was obviously a very different firm to the one we are now,” begins Ian Curtis, Senior and Managing Partner. “He began as an office boy with duties including counting the coal bags for the 11 fires that were in the building and general reception duties. He moved to the Accounts department in 1955 where a telephone had just been installed…the first in a long line of technological introductions that have changed the way we work in a relatively short space of time.”
While the way we work has changed, John’s commitment to the firm never did, and it was when he moved to the Conveyancing team in the early 60’s that he found his true calling. “During his almost 50 years in the Conveyancing team, John built up an incredible following from not only his clients but also local estate agents, banks, and building societies, and to this day we still receive new details of sales marked for John’s attention…a true testament to his unparalleled customer service.
“John was the true embodiment of all those characteristics we promote to our staff as the ideal ‘Warner’s person’; honesty, integrity, positivity, enthusiasm, pride, loyalty and passionate,” concludes Ian. “I was extremely honoured to work with John during his time at Warner Goodman, and the number of former clients and staff present at his birthday meal shows the respect he earned over his years with us. I am delighted, along with the rest of the firm, to wish John a very happy 80th birthday.”
