HR Red Flags with Cath Dixon
HR Red Flags — An Introduction to HR for the Employment Rights Act
Your line managers don't need to be HR experts. They do need to know when to call one.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 puts more pressure on line managers than ever before. Get things wrong early — at induction, during probation, in that first difficult conversation — and the consequences can be significant. This session gives your managers the knowledge to spot trouble before it escalates, and the confidence to act when they see it.
What to Expect
- How to recognise common HR red flags and understand the risks they carry
- When reasonable adjustments, fair process, and informal resolution are needed — and why it matters
- Core employment law responsibilities: the Equality Act 2010, the ACAS Code, and the Employment Rights Act 2025
- How to respond confidently to the workplace scenarios that catch managers out most often
- The early warning signs around induction and probation that can lead to tribunal claims if missed
- Knowing when to seek expert advice — and not leaving it too late
How the Session Will Run
The session runs from 10.00am to 1.00pm at our Southampton office, Compass House. It is led by one of our employment law specialists and uses practical, scenario-based discussion to make the content genuinely useful for managers without an HR background. Spaces are limited to keep the session focused and to give you the opportunity to raise questions relevant to your organisation.
Who Should Attend?
This session is ideal for line managers at any level who are responsible for people but are not HR professionals. It is particularly well suited to businesses that are growing their teams or where managers are new to people management. It is open to all employers — you do not need to be a Peace of Mind member to attend.
Why Attend?
- The Employment Rights Act 2025 raises the stakes for line managers who get it wrong
- Early mistakes — at induction, on probation, in first conversations — are often the most costly
- Give your managers the confidence to handle difficult situations without freezing or overreacting
- Reduce the risk of tribunal claims through better day-to-day people management
- Practical, jargon-free guidance your managers can apply immediately
- Get answers to questions specific to your business
