Warner Goodman welcomes new Equity Partners and Associates at a time of expansion

  • Posted

Warner Goodman is delighted to announce an exciting milestone for the firm, promoting seven members of staff to associate status or equivalent, and welcoming three new Equity Partners from the pool of Fixed-share Partners. Dan Thompson, Sarah Brooks and Steve Grant have all been welcomed to new Equity partner roles, taking the total up to eight. These changes highlight the confidence they have in the firm, and its performance.

Head of the Injury Team, Dan Thompson focuses on catastrophic and life changing brain and spinal injuries. After studying Law at Southampton University, Dan went on to complete a Legal Practice Course at Bournemouth University receiving a Law Society prize before joining the firm in 1997. As a trainee Dan realised his calling and began to specialise in Personal Injury work, and qualified in 1999. “Since starting my legal career with Warner Goodman, I have seen it grow into the firm it is today. I have chosen to invest in its future as it has invested so confidently in me in the past. I look forward to a bright future at Warner Goodman.”

Sarah Brooks now has 27 years of experience dealing in Law, and qualified as a Legal Executive in 2001. Since beginning at Warner Goodman, Sarah has seen the Conveyancing department flourish and became business head in 2009, progressing to partner in 2011. Sarah also has experience in criminal law, civil litigation and probate and now takes pride in her residential conveyancing department.

Steven has been instrumental in the Commercial Group’s recent growth, having been appointed Head of the Commercial Group in April 2012 and Team Leader of the firm’s Company Commercial team in June 2013.  In that time he has seen the Group’s turnover almost double and the Company Commercial Team expand from two solicitors, to six at present.  In May 2016 Steven was appointed to the firm’s three person Management Team, responsible for business matters across the firm.   In addition to his management roles, Steven specialises in business sales and purchases. Steven prides himself on working to tight timescales and his ability to cooperate with other professionals.

The promotions continue with a total of seven members of staff being promoted to associate status or equivalent. Sophie Flack, Veronica Hayden, Emma McAndrew and Michele White of our Conveyancing Team are all being promoted, along with Kirsten Edberg of Private Client, Lisa Joyce from the Employment team, and Brian Kirby from Commercial Litigation. A new record has been set at Warner Goodman with seven people being promoted at once.

With over 13 year’s experience of conveyancing, Sophie Flack joined the Warner Goodman conveyancing team in 2014 along with Michele White who also joined as a senior Conveyancer. After working at a general practice in Gibraltar, Veronica Hayden joined Warner Goodman in 2006. In her role as associate she will provide support to Paul Winslade in dealing with residential conveyancing issues. Emma McAndrew started her legal career working within the Litigation department at a local firm. She then moved to conveyancing where she worked as a legal secretary whilst studying to qualify as a fee earner.

Training and qualifying in the commercial litigation department, Kirsten Edberg made the change over to Private Client in 2014. Kirsten originally studied English at the University of Southampton before making the change to Law, obtaining her diploma in 2008.

As part of the Employment team, Lisa Joyce deals heavily with Peace of Mind clients advising on all manners of HR related issues. Lisa passed her law degree in 2004 at the University of Sheffield and went on to complete her LPC in 2006 before moving to Warner Goodman in 2014.

Working for the firm since 1986 Brian Kirby works within the Commercial litigation department, specialising in civil advocacy. Dealing with debt collection, Brian has dealt with a number of large organisations helping them with their repossession claims.

Summarising the excitement of all the Associates Michelle White has commented:  “After 17 years of Conveyancing at various firms, I admit I was overwhelmed to be promoted to Associate level. I have always been passionate about Conveyancing but to be recognised for the work I have achieved over the past two years makes me feel valued. Warner Goodman is a warm and friendly place to work; I am proud to be a member of such a highly thought of firm who support my beliefs, where a high level of customer service and strong team ethos is a priority.

I look forward to my future here and am very excited to have the opportunity to become more involved with the firm.”
