Sunday 23rd October will see twelve members of Hampshire law firm, Warner Goodman LLP, take part in the Great South Run.  The runners will proudly be donning their running shoes in support of local charity, Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association (Portsmouth DSA).

Portsmouth DSA is a self-funding charity, committed to improving the lives of children and their families in Portsmouth and South Hampshire, by providing friendship, support and an extensive range of educational services from birth.

Runner and Commercial Property Partner, Claire Battye, commented, “Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association is a charity very close to our hearts and one that we support all year round.  For the last three years during World Down Syndrome Week in March, we work with the charity to promote their Facebook page and encourage new ‘likes’ to their page; for every new like gained during the week we donate £1.  Each year the campaign has grown bigger and bigger, and this year we also had a team abseil down the Spinnaker Tower in their honour to raise more funds and awareness.”

Rachael Ross, Founder of Portsmouth DSA, said of Warner Goodman LLP’s support, “Warner Goodman has very generously sponsored our Facebook Challenge during World Down Syndrome Week for the past three years, and their support has been invaluable.  The campaign enables us to spread awareness about Down syndrome, and the work our charity does in the community, to a much wider audience than would usually be possible.  In addition, the funds donated by Warner Goodman are being used to provide specialist services for our children which they wouldn’t otherwise receive. As a self-funding children’s charity, the support we receive from Warner Goodman has been outstanding, and has made a real and positive difference to the lives of our families.  We couldn’t ask for better charity partners!”

Claire concludes, “We’re so pleased we’ve had such a good response from our colleagues at Warner Goodman LLP to take part and raise funds for Portsmouth DSA, especially as running does not come naturally for a number of the runners.  We’ve already raised over £2,000, and we’re hoping to reach £3,000 by the day.”
