Hampshire based law firm Warner Goodman LLP are proud to announce they are sponsors of Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association’s Awareness Week for the third year in a row.  This year the week will be held from 16th – 26th March 2015 and here Claire Battye, Partner at Warner Goodman LLP, explains why they have chosen to continue with sponsorship and explains how anyone can help raise awareness of this important charity.

“The Down Syndrome Awareness Week last year was a huge success, and as a firm we were extremely proud to sponsor Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association,” explains Claire.  “For the last two years we have pledged to donate £1 to the charity for every new Facebook ‘like’ they received during the week.  We were overwhelmed in the first year when they reached 1,000 new likes and last year we beat this with 2,000 new likes!”

“The more people who like the page will not only mean more money donated to the charity as we will once again be giving £1 for every new like, but will also increase their online presence and will put Portsmouth DSA and the work they do every day throughout the town in the front of people’s minds.  We’re hoping more people will then look to become involved with the charity, donate themselves or hold their own fund-raising activities in their workplace. One event we are excited to get involved in is the Spinnaker Tower abseil on 19th-20th March when seven people from across the firm will be taking a leap of faith over the edge of the tallest building on the south coast, aiming to raise over £1,000 for Portsmouth DSA, on top of the Facebook campaign”

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association is a self-funding charity, committed to improving the lives of children and their families, in Portsmouth and South Hampshire, by providing friendship, support and an extensive range of educational services from birth.  Rachael Ross, Chair and Director of Fundraising for Portsmouth DSA, commented: “At Portsmouth DSA we are committed to improving the lives of children and their families in Portsmouth and South Hampshire, by providing friendship, support and educational services from birth, which is funded by donations and fundraising events like coffee mornings and the abseil that Warner Goodman are taking part in.”

Claire concludes, “Portsmouth DSA  is a charity that is very important to us and our clients here at Warner Goodman LLP.  We’re thrilled to be sponsors again for the third year and would encourage everyone reading this to like the Facebook page and share it with their family and friends to help us make this year even more successful than last year!”
