We are proud to announce they are sponsors of Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association’s Awareness Week for the second year in a row.  This year the week will be held from 16th – 22nd March 2015 and here Claire Battye, Commercial Property Partner, explains why they have chosen to continue with sponsorship and explains how you can help raise awareness of this important charity.

“The Down Syndrome Awareness Week last year was a huge success, and as a firm we were extremely proud to sponsor Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association,” explains Claire.  “Last year we pledged to donate £1 to the charity for every new Facebook ‘like’ they received during the week.  We were overwhelmed when they reached 1,000 new likes and this year we aim to beat this by encouraging 2,000 new likes!

“The more people who like the page will not only mean more money donated to the charity as we will once again be giving £1 for every new like, but will also increase their online presence and will put Portsmouth DSA and the work they do every day throughout the town in the front of people’s minds.  We’re hoping more people will then look to become involved with the charity, donate themselves or hold their own fund-raising activities in their workplace.   One idea we have adopted is a Dress Down Day, which we held on Wednesday 11th March raising an extra £302 on top of the Facebook donation we will make.”

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association is a self-funding charity, committed to improving the lives of children and their families, in Portsmouth and South Hampshire, by providing friendship, support and an extensive range of educational services from birth.  Rachael Ross, Chair and Director of Fundraising for Portsmouth DSA, commented “We are thrilled that once again Warner Goodman has very generously agreed to sponsor our Down Syndrome Awareness Week.  We are self-funding and so support from a prestigious local business like Warner Goodman means a great deal to us.  As well as generating vital funds which help us continue to provide essential services for our children, this Facebook campaign provides the opportunity to raise awareness about Down syndrome in the local community and beyond.”

Claire concludes, “Portsmouth DSA is a charity that is very important to us and our clients here at Warner Goodman LLP.  We’re delighted to be sponsors again for the second time and would encourage everyone reading this to like the Facebook page and share it with their family and friends to help us make this year even more successful than last year!”
