Being an Apprentice at Warner Goodman

  • Posted

To mark national apprenticeship week, we look at the contributions apprentices make to the workplace, and the way workplaces help apprentices learn their trade. Rebecca Spurrier, administration apprentice at the Portsmouth office, shares her story.

“There are benefits to Apprenticeships, not only do you get to experience the work life and earn while doing so; you also get to study and gain a qualification at the end of it. This is very helpful if you’re undecided about whether to continue with further education or get a full time job.

I am studying my apprenticeship at Warner Goodman and love every second of it. I attend college once a month to study the mandatory units needed for my course; and I chose the optional units needed to obtain the pass mark. I get to complete my coursework while also completing my daily tasks in the workplace.

Warner Goodman LLP has made me feel very welcome and I have learnt a lot in a short amount of time. The company has a high success rate with staff - a lot of employees have worked at the company for many years, which shows how enjoyable the company is to work for.

After completing my apprenticeship, I hope to stay at the company and progress into a specific department and perhaps work up to becoming a legal secretary. Before studying the apprenticeship I worked in the hospitality industry, and had no access to further education. I didn’t possess the will to succeed, but since working at Warner Goodman LLP it has provided me with the motivation and ambition I needed to succeed in life.”
