Employment Law Masterclass - Settlement Agreements

It has been reported that the last 12 months have seen a rise in the use of settlement agreements as roles change and are unfortunately made redundant.  With the furlough scheme ending towards the end of the year, it is likely that this will continue and it is vital that as an employer, you know the situations when these agreements should be used, your legal obligations and how to handle negotiations. 

Our masterclass will review these considerations as well as:

• How to approach the subject of a settlement agreement option with an employee
• The clauses that create a compliant agreement
• The role of the legal advisor in the process
• The implications on benefits, tax, PILON and pensions
• Whether restrictive covenants can be included in an agreement
• The claims that could be brought against you and how to avoid them.

Using our trademark quizzes, role play and case scenarios to bring the law to life, you will leave our masterclass fully equipped to understand the process of offering a settlement agreement from start to finish, minimising the risk of tribunal claims against you.

While we currently anticipate to be able to hold this event in person, it will be moved to a virtual forum if we either do not have enough interest in physical events or if Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions change.  We have worked closely with the venue in order to ensure Covid-19 safety measures and will be in touch the week before the event to confirm steps when at the venue.

Venue: The Media Centre, Hilton Hotel, Ageas Bowl
Timings: Arrival at 8.45am with presentations commencing at 9am.  The event will then conclude at 12noon.
