Employment Law Masterclass - GDPR...A Year On

This time last year we were making ourselves ready for the biggest change in data protection for years; the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation.  Businesses have had to make changes to how they store data and have faced heightened rules around consent.  Of course, GDPR not only impacts client data but also employee data.

It is for this reason that our masterclass, one year on from the introduction of GDPR, will focus on how employee data should be stored, and explains the consents required to ensure compliance.  In addition, we will also be discussing Data Subject Access Requests, which also changed under GDPR.

We will be using our usual mix of case scenarios and tricky questions to cover the following topics:

  • A review of the main changes introduced by GDPR
  • Specific issues relating to employee data, including:
    • the difference between personal and sensitive personal data,
    • where the use of legitimate interest is justified,
    • the use of privacy notices,
    • data protection clauses in employment contracts,
    • the data protection policy in your staff handbook and
    • how DBS checks and references should now be conducted and stored
  • An overview of Data Subject Access Requests.

This masterclass will be held in the Hambledon Suite of the Ageas Bowl, beginning at 8.45am with arrival and registration before beginning the presentations at 9am.  We aim to close the event at 12noon.

There is a charge of £95 + VAT per place.  To register your interest, email us at events@warnergoodman.co.uk or complete our Registration form.  We will be in touch to confirm your place; if you do not receive a response from us within 48 hours, please call Karen Clarkson on 023 8063 9311.
