Warner Goodman LLP and the award winning charity known as Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association (‘Portsmouth DSA’) are pleased to announce they will be continuing their ongoing partnership, with Warner Goodman once again in supporting the charity during this years “Down Syndrome Awareness Week” which is taking place during the week of the 21st – 27th March 2022.

By way of brief reminder, the Portsmouth DSA are the only fully comprehensive and progressive charity providing a service in the UK supporting the child’s education and development from birth through to young adulthood with training to assist families and professionals alike, and in providing direct and effective support to improve lives, opportunities and outcomes.  When children with Down syndrome are given opportunities to participate and be fully included, not only do the children themselves flourish, their families and the whole community benefits.

Portsmouth DSA is proud to have been honoured by Her Majesty the Queen with the Queen’s Award in recognition of outstanding service to the community, and not only that Rachael Ross MBE, one of the founders and Chair of the charity, was awarded an MBE in 2020 along with the Portsmouth Civic Award in recognition of her contribution to the cause over the last 25 years.

Claire Battye, Commercial Property Partner of Warner Goodman in Portsmouth, explains why the firm has decided once again to support the charity during Down Syndrome Awareness:-

“We are delighted to have been invited by Portsmouth DSA to once again work with them on their inspirational awareness campaign.  We have worked with Ken and Rachael Ross for many years now and are so proud that we have been able to support them as we have, raising over many thousands of pounds during this period to help fund their work, and raising awareness.

All people need to do during the week is head over to their Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and LinkedIn platforms, follow or like them and we will donate £1 for every new follow or like they receive during that week up to £2,000.”

Speaking of their work, and the partnership with Warner Goodman LLP, Rachael Ross MBE comments:-

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the fantastic team at Warner Goodman for the ninth consecutive year.  Warner Goodman will once again be generously sponsoring and actively supporting our social media awareness campaign. This year our celebrations are particularly significant as our Down Syndrome Bill which has received unanimous cross-party support at Parliament, looks imminently set to become an Act of Parliament. This will be a world-first piece of legislation, and we are very proud to have worked closely with the parliamentary Bill team to make the Bill a reality. The theme for this year’s awareness week is #InclusionMeans… and our members look forward to sharing what meaningful inclusion means for them.

We hope the wonderful Warner Goodman team will get behind our celebrations once again this year by supporting our ‘Rock Your Socks’ initiative, posting online and tagging us @PortsmouthDSA. After the success of last year’s photo competition we would also like to invite Warner Goodman staff to enter our Rock Your Socks photo competition, but most of all, we hope that you  will support our awareness week social media campaign for the ninth consecutive year, which helps us reach a much wider audience that would otherwise be possible.

A huge thank you to you all our friends at Warner Goodman for your continued support. It means a great deal to us. Now let’s get ready to rock!”

Warner Goodman has helped raise over £22,000 over the last 9 years in this raising awareness campaign alone, in addition to many other fundraising events and challenges completed for this amazing charity.
