Geoffrey Sturgess

Geoffrey’s work concentrates on UK and international commercial contracting in technology, IT and other areas of business. He also deals with disputes, including international disputes, in the same fields. He works hard to keep his clients out of court, both by insisting on contractual clarity, and, when disputes arise, by seeking resolution in pre-litigation negotiations.

Part of his caseload concerns intellectual property and its protection.

He is a recognised expert in data privacy law and is well known in the Solent region and nationally in franchising.

Geoffrey qualified in 1980 and spent the first third of his career in industry where he was instrumental in the development of milk round franchising.

He has been  a member of the BFA’s Legal Committee and was elected to its board in 2010. More recently he has been involved in a working party set up to advise it on fairness in franchising.

Geoffrey understands the cost constraints of smaller businesses and is able to tailor his work and costs to meet the requirements of clients’ budgets.

Out of the office, Geoffrey is an angler, motorcyclist and rock climber.
