Brian Bannister

Solicitor

Brian joined our Company Commercial team in November 2018.  He originally qualified with a London practice before joining the international law firm, Baker McKenzie. Subsequently he has worked in a number of national and regional firms, but most recently as a consultant to specialist commercial law firm in the City. He also spent three years working in-house for an engineering technology company (a joint venture with BASF) and so has experience as a user of external legal services and the expectations of clients regarding accurate, practical legal solutions to specific commercial problems.

As well as commercial law experience in a variety of areas (including IP licensing both as licensor and licensee, franchising, agency and distribution agreements, marketing and promotional T&Cs, advising on GDPR compliance and trading contracts of all kinds), which has accounted for approximately half of his past work, Brian also has significant mergers & acquisition experience, advising on transactions of all sizes. Recent transactions include leading on the sale of a niche London brewery to BrewDog plc. and the sale of a Chicago-based search engine marketing business.

Outside of work, Brian is currently attempting to write a science-fiction novel and has an interest in Ancient Greece and Rome, gaining a First Class degree in Classics at Reading University in 2014. His previous interests, now all abandoned, included motorcycling, skiing and being a long-time season ticket holder at Harlequins RFC.  Brian now follows Liverpool FC on the TV
