New Trainee Solicitor brings peace of mind to Employment team
- AuthorAntoinette Merryfield
Our Employment Law team, based in our Southampton office, are delighted to welcome a new Trainee Solicitor; Antoinette Merryfield.
It was in July 2016 when Antoinette first joined Warner Goodman, working in the Private Client, Family and Employment departments during her placement year at University where she was completing her Law degree. After graduating in 2018, she took a position in the Private Client team based in Fareham whilst also studying for her Legal Practice Course. In her role here, she gained valuable experience of liaising with clients on a regular basis and helping them during a particularly sensitive time. In July of this year, she took a permanent position with the Employment team and began her Recognised Period of Training in August of this year.
As Trainee Solicitor in the Peace of Mind team, Antoinette will be working closely with her colleagues in the Document Audit team to review and update the employment contracts and staff handbooks of Peace of Mind members in a timely fashion, ensuring their compliance, accuracy and a syncronisation with the business’s values and work ethic.
Speaking about her move to the Employment team as a Trainee Solicitor, Antoinette commented, “I am delighted that I have been offered the opportunity to complete my Recognised Period of Training here at Warner Goodman. Ever since I started several years ago, I knew that I wanted the first steps of my legal career to be here due to the environment, the work ethic and the way the firm embraces change and personal development. To start my time as a Trainee Solicitor in the Employment team is a great way to begin as the team is so busy and dedicated to the satisfaction of their clients. They are also heavily involved in the marketing of the firm, having their own weekly newsletter, social media platforms and regular events. I know that within the Employment team I can not only expand my legal knowledge but also other personal skills such as writing and public speaking. I am excited about what the next few months will bring as part of the team, as well as the next two years of training.”
Dan Thompson, Trainee Partner for the firm, commented, “Antoinette has been an important part of our firm for several years so it was very rewarding to be able to offer her this next step in her career. Our Peace of Mind package is growing every year, with 170 local businesses now enjoying the benefits of being a part of this employment law membership scheme. Antoinette will have a wide variety of experiences and get to know a number of our larger, loyal clients and I am looking forward to seeing what her future has in store.”
