Anne walks 20 miles for Wessex Cancer Trust
On 4th June, a member of the Warner Goodman’s Residential Conveyancing team took on a 20 mile walking challenge with three friends, one of whom a cancer survivor, to raise vital funds for Wessex Cancer Trust.
Wessex Cancer Trust
“We were looking for a way to fundraise for this charity, given their support during our friend’s cancer journey,” explains Anne. “Even though her treatment has now finished, Jo still uses the charity, for example she uses the access to muscular pain relief therapies, funded by the charity. A fact that struck me is that it was not only Jo who received the support of the charity, but her parents also had counselling throughout her treatment. They all say they don’t know what they would have done without them; a sentiment I’m sure is shared by many families in the area and I was keen to do what I could to raise funds for them.”
Wessex Cancer Trust helps support the 23,000 people diagnosed with cancer within the Wessex region each year and the money raised through events such as these is crucial to keep the charity going, and to introduce new activities and support available in the area. They helps and support anyone affected by cancer regardless of age, gender or type of cancer. Their dedicated team are committed to offering free support for as long as people need it, away from a hospital environment.
How to donate
“I used to be a keen walker but unfortunately wasn’t able to train for this walk so it was certainly a challenge,” concludes Anne. “Even though we have beaten our £500 target, we are keen to keep fundraising. My colleagues across our three offices have all been exceptionally generous so far, and are continuing to do so by holding a dress down day on Tuesday 13th June.”
