Becoming a franchisee

We can assist with the review of your franchise agreement and sometimes with its amendment. We charge a fixed price of £500 plus vat for a written report. A more tailored service is available at an hourly rate and is likely to cost nearer £1,000.

If the franchise involves the occupation of commercial property our property team have the experience necessary to handle your lease and advise you on its interaction with the franchise agreement.

If you are buying or selling an existing franchised unit we can deal with the business sale or purchase.

Disputes

Franchisees very rarely win disputes with franchisors but it can happen. We will provide 15 minutes, free, on the phone to help you decide whether there is any sensible chance of you winning and whether it is cost effective to try. Thereafter we would require a minimum of £500 plus VAT on account to evaluate your position properly.

Your chances are greatly increased if a number of franchisees can instruct us together. Geoffrey Sturgess has acted for a number of franchisee action groups.

Occasionally disputes arise that are suitable for mediation. We will represent you in the mediation process.
